We now all know one of the best ways to protect ourselves, our families, friends and colleagues from Covid19 is regular hand washing or using hand sanitiser.
For many of us, this means that our hard-working hands are quickly drying out, making them rough, red and painful. The thought of then getting them wet or applying sanitiser becomes increasingly less appealing, so what we do to take care of our hands is just as important. But what are the best ways to heal sore hands? The right combination of soothing, hydrating natural butters and oils will help protect your hands so you can stay on top of your hand-washing routine.
We’ve taken a closer look at some of the main ingredients in our nourishing Hand Balms, to see just what they do to help care for your hands…
Mango butter – has skin softening, soothing & moisturising properties. It helps to combat dry skin, eczema and dermatitis. Unlike other butters, such as shea butter and cocoa butter, mango butter has a wound healing quality. It has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, is non-greasy and absorbs easily into the skin.
Calendula oil – extracted from the marigold, it helps soothe sore, inflamed and itchy skin conditions, as well as soothing and softening the skin.
Organic Jojoba oil – offers hydrating and sebum-balancing properties. It has a light texture, is compatible with all skin types and has natural antibacterial properties to help keep skin clear and healthy.
Organic Borage oil – this hydrating oil has been used for hundreds of years both internally and topically to treat inflammation. Borage Oil has high levels of Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA) which is an essential fatty acid that the body can’t make on its own. It replenishes the lipid barrier in the skin, fights dryness and restores elasticity.
Organic Illipe butter – renowned for its incredible moisturising properties and its ability to restore elasticity to the skin.We have seven beautiful fragrance options to choose from, from the gentle Natural Jojoba, to the fresh and fruity Summer Citrus, the woody Earth Spice and more. Even the essential oils themselves are chosen for their beneficial effects on the skin.
For example, the orange-y tang of Summer Citrus comes from sweet orange oil, which is naturally antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and contains high levels of vitamin C that helps protect and heal skin. Our popular Cool Rose has a lovely musky rose aroma, thanks to the rose geranium essential oil, as well as all the benefits of its moisturising, antiseptic and healing properties.
